Before I tell you more about this young, successful company and it's owner, here are some details on the items I received. The notepads are a generous 8x8 and come wrapped as you see them.
These adorable place mats for my boys are laminated for easy clean up (which is a necessity at our house) and are super sturdy. More so than any other similar product I have come across.
I know you want the 411 on all of this....so let me introduce you to Virginia Thomas, owner of Ann Page.
PPT: What made you start your business? And, who is Ann page?
Virginia: I started Ann Page in 2010 after my Dad had a stroke. I was working a corporate job and had been since college and I decided life was too short. Thankfully, I have a very supportive husband who thought that my starting a business was a great idea. I've always had a lot of ambition and both of my parents are entrepreneurs so it was a natural fit.
Ann page is a combination of middle names. Page is my middle name and a good friend of mine who helped me think of a name....her middle name is Ann. I knew I wanted the company name to be 2 words, catchy and easy to remember. And because my name is Virginia and not Ann, people are always curious and it's a great conversation starter!PPT: I absolutely love your product line...it's different than others that are also in your space. How did you develop your look?
Virginia: Thank you so much! I have basically grown the product line around products and colors I love. I am absolutely obsessed with orange and lucky for me, it has been an extremely hot color in the last couple of years. I think it is hard to sell something that you don't love yourself, so for me, I develop things that I would want to buy.
PPT: Since we just wrapped up the big gift giving season, what were the most popular requests?
Virginia: Our notepads and paper placemats are our top sellers. Notepads have been our key thing since we started the company and because they retail for less than $20, including personalization, it is a perfect gift for a friend, neighbor or co-worker. We also wrap all of our notepads and placemats with coordinating raffia. People absolutely love getting an item with a bow on it.
PPT: Tell me about those adorable door hangers...I've seen a few on Pinterest, but not like yours.
Virginia: We are actually debuting our Metal Door Hangers at Market this January. We've put a couple of images up on our website, but the majority of our stores haven't seen them in person yet. They are available in several die cut shapes (who doesn't love a fun shape?) and they come in any of our patterns. The fact that they are heat transferred on and not a vinyl that can be peeled off makes them very attractive. We think they will be a big seller for us in 2013.
PPT: Obviously you love paper and personalization...tell us how that started.
Virginia: I have been a fan of anything personalized since I was a kid. I was born and raised in Macon, GA and grew up having most things I owned with my name on it. It is absolutely a Southern necessity! So, when I started thinking about businesses, I knew that it had to a be a personalization company of some sort. And it worked out well, since most people love to see anything with their name or monogram on it!
PPT: With Valentine's Day, Easter and Mother's Day in the coming months...what do you have up your sleeve?
Virginia: We've got lots of fun things designed for the holidays and I am very traditional so think pink and pastel. We love having options that are related to the holidays, but products that the stores can sell even after the holiday has come and gone. We want our retailers to be successful and we keep that in mind when designing.
website for a store near you and their Facebook page for updates on new products!
Don't you love receiving something with your name on it? You know it was meant for no one else but you!
UPDATE: Virginia noticed that some of you commented that you don't have retailers near you who carry her line, so she wanted to let you know that she has a great online retailer, SisterBug Monograms, who carries her notepads. Hope that helps!!
