Friday Fashion + Flowers

Kate Moss has been setting, not following, fashion trends for more than 20 years. I'm loving her boho blouse with it's sheer bodice and gold detailing. But, what I really admire is her taste in flowers.

Notice her choice of pink tulips? I guess she thinks those are pretty stylish.

Wishing you a fashionable weekend (and a bunch of pink tulips)!

Cheers for the Cherry Blossoms

Surrounded by a cloud of pink, we savored the expanse of cherry blossoms, in full bloom in Washington, DC.

And, marveled at the impressive architecture that makes up our capitol.
I know our founding fathers would have been proud at how beautiful the city looks today. Don't you agree?

Bringing Nature Home

Well known lifestyle photographer, Ngoc Minh Ngo and Nicolette Owen, of the Little Flower School, have combined their skills to create the new book, Bringing Nature Home. With a focus on seasonal flowers, which can be locally sourced, this is a fresh take on floral arranging.

Published by Rizzoli and with a foreword by Deborah Needleman (of Domino magazine fame), you know this will be a dazzling tome.
And, if you're lucky enough to live in the Tri State area, rsvp for the book party, Tuesday, April 10th at West Elm, and get your signed copy of the book. Or join them for their Pop Up Flower Shop - same day.

Don't you think it looks like these authors' careers are in full bloom?!

Tuesday Tulips - Washington, DC

All I had thought about seeing in Washington, D.C. were the cherry blossoms. And, we did (which I'll share later this week). But, what I didn't expect to see were all the tulips! Everywhere we went!!!

Red at the White House.
Purple and white along Independence Ave.
Pink and yellow/orange outside the botanical gardens.
White outside the Library of Congress.
Red and white outside the Capitol.

Every color seemed to be represented! Do you think it's a bipartisan landscape team?!

Splendid Day

Good Monday morning glories!

The kiddos are back to school after 2 weeks for Spring Break, which means I'm "back", too! Today, I'm excited to be joining other bloggers in a series hosted by the splendid Swedish born blogger, Monika, on her blog, Splendid Willow.

Her series is entitled "2 Cents" and gives other bloggers an opportunity to give their 2 cents about a certain topic. Today, we're talking about a favorite room and why.

So, please join me over at Splendid Willow today to see what room I can't get out of my head. You might just be surprised!

Do you have an all time favorite room? One that you just can't get out of your head? I'd love to hear your 2 cents!

Off to See the Cherry Blossoms

Today, we're wrapping up our sons' Spring Break in our nation's capitol. And, I feel like clicking my heels because the cherry blossoms bloomed early this year. Normally, they don't peak until April.

100 years ago, Japan gave 3000 cherry blossom trees to the United States. Who would have thought that they would have flourished so beautifully?

Camera in hand, I will hopefully get to capture some photos that resemble these!
Have a wonderful Spring weekend, surrounded by all that is blooming near you!

Take a Seat

Pull up a chair! Don't you love these chair decorations? I know they're normally used for weddings, but I think this idea would translate beautifully to a garden party....on every chair.

First things first. I need a lawn. What used to be my asphalt driveway is a heap of dirt. But, it won't be for long!

Who's ready for a garden party? If so....take a seat!

Monograms - Kyle Bunting Style

Leave it to Texan Kyle Bunting to blaze a trail in monogramming. On cowhides.

I know many of you prefer your cows in the pastures, but for those who like a touch (no pun intended) of cow in their home, I think these are pretty cool.

Which style mooooves you the most? I'm a fan of the circular block myself.

Growing to New Heights - The Orchid Show

Lush. Exotic. Vertical.

The current exhibit at the NY Botanical Garden is reaching new heights with the help of French botanist, Patrick Blanc.

The Orchid Show: Patrick Blanc's Vertical Gardens is an exotic explosion of orchids that defy gravity. Seeing this floral artistry is high on my Spring agenda, as it will only be there until April 22nd.
And, don't you just love Patrick's green hair? With a do like that and talent like his, who needs a green thumb?!

Good to Be Back

Hello, everyone! It's great to be back.

Surf. Sand. Ocean breezes. Love it all, but there's nothing like sleeping in your own bed. Here's a peek at where we were. Manzanillo, Mexico.....not very touristy. That's what makes it so much fun!
Yet, even the sun must set on vacations. What have you been up to? I can't wait to find out!!
