Last week I promised renovation updates...so here goes!
Today is my weekly architect/contractor meeting and they are ready for me to chose my paint colors. So, that meant looking through fabrics to get an idea of the direction we're headed. Above are just a few of the color options.
The week's big excitement - the powder bath tile has gone in!!
The "playroom", which is what got this project rolling is coming along. The exterior is completely shingled. Once we're assured it will stay warm, we'll start painting. The house will be white and I'm considering options for the front door and shutters.
My poor little window boxes will be replaced with larger boxes. More room for pretty flowers!
There will also be a large window box under the window above the garage doors. More flowers!
Finally, I need to come up with a paint color for the garage doors. Right now, they're just primed.
The back patio has been completely rebuilt (trust me...it needed it) and the back of the house is so much prettier than before. Just need some grass and some plants in my pots!
I'll be testing paint colors out over the weekend. What about you? What do you have planned?

Elizabeth,
"Progress makes perfect!" Everything is looking rather lovely. I do hope you will make room for a pretty pink door or some sort of chic blue would be lovely too.
I have a pinterest page devoted to door color.(s)
You have exquisite taste and I know that your doors will reflect that.
I do love a deep dark door....maybe an anthracite gray or a steel blue?

Love this post and all you've done! Can't wait to see more.
So exciting! Have been through many an expansion project and loved everyone, even the stressful ones! Makes me want to embark on a new one!

The house is going to be stunning. I love the fabrics you have chosen, and the exterior is looking great. I know that you are happy to have the tile down in the powder room. So pretty.

Looks so great!! I love seeing your process, so wonderful!!
Oh my! Everything looks wonderful! I especially love the exterior view with the side of the house. You have done an amazing job so far!!!
what about leaving those beautiful shingles natural. A friend here in Seattle did and now they are weathering to the most beautiful shade of gray. No paint can match that. Have a great weekend Elizabeth.
Oh, so pretty, Elizabeth! And what lovely fabrics you've already pulled!! Have a great weekend!
Love the renovation! In your first picture, the chevron/flamestich, could you advise on the source? This fabric would be perfect for a project that I am pulling together.
Your home will be so warm and inviting. I can't wait to see the progress.
Have you seen House Beautiful February 2012? Page 84. A shingled house with BM Guilford Green doors and windows. How pretty it would be with pinks. Will your main house be white and the addition left to weather a soft gray?
Cathy
It's coming along beautifully! You must be getting so excited. Love what you've selected so far. It's going to be gorgeous!
Love the tile, the
windows in the
play room and
your new shingles!
Since our house is
also shingled, with
white trim, I'm quite
partial to the look : )
Our garage doors are
taupe. Wish I had
the window boxes ~
such a sweet look!
Hope you are enjoying
the weekend, Elizabeth!

Elizabeth! I love, love, love the house. It looks gorgeous! The powder room floor is beautiful. Congratulations. I saw Splendid Market Emily's suggestion that you leave the shingles natural and wanted to tell you that is what we've done with ours. It's taking some time, they are not quite that Nantucket gray yet, but they are getting there and I love watching the years and the weather leave their mark on my home. Thanks so much for sharing your photos - it's so fun to see your progress.
In other happy news, it looks like I will be coming to NYC in April for Bridal Market. I'm hoping to add a day to the trip to play a little - would love it if it works out for us to meet up. I'll keep you posted on plans and perhaps we can get together.
Enjoy the weekend! XO
Everything is looking fab. Hope you'll have tulips in a few weeks (pink, of course!). I've been wondering if you were going to put the shutters back up some day. Can't wait to see what color they and the front door will be. So pretty!
Thank you for all the encouraging comments! I feel like the pace of decision making is really speeding up.
Shelley asked about the chevron/flame stith - it's Duralee, Pattern 15149. Color is Sky.
This month's Southern Living has a great article on exterior paint combinations and an article on window boxes. Worth picking up, if you don't have a subscription!
Now, off to visit all of you. It has been an unusually busy weekend in RL....so not much time online.
xoxo Elizabeth
Thank you Elizabeth. Your home is beautiful, thanks for sharing. Love the tile selection, too.
Wow, it all looks so beautiful!
When our paint colors were picked, I just asked my designer to pick them all and I would look at the list and make comments. My designer is amazing at color sequencing. Now that I have talked to others who are renovating and building, I have a full appreciation with the challenge of picking colors for an entire house!
Ours worked out very well for the most part. My husband's office is a Benjamin Moore color that he did not really like - Manchester tan. Of course, he was not involved in the color selections at all and he did not communicate to me that he has always preferred gray tones versus gold tones. The Manchester Tab turned out a bit more gold than he liked. But, we decided to 'live with it' as all of the priming, trim painting, and drywall painting was done and it would have cost quite a bit to change things out, not to mention that the cabinets were Manchester tan too (although the tone on the cabinets was much more taupe, much prettier)!
Now that we have lived here for 6 months, he doesn't even notice it, and once all of the paint was done, the 'gold' seemed to tone down. However, our family room was supposed to be Manchester tan too, and we changed that to a more taupe tone (more like the cabinet tone) before they started painting.
Your tile is beautiful!
It really is coming along beautifully. You have such exquisite taste, I cannot wait to see the finished results.
The fabrics, the tiles, your house... Elizabeth it all looks SO good!! It must feel so great to live there. Can't wait to see the progress :)
Elizabeth,
I've missed so much in my MIA state these days!
You are doing a fantastic job with all of your selections and the tile is so pretty, well I could lick it! I love your flagstone patio and would kill to have in back, currently only the front walkway and porch :(
Your kiddos must be crazy excited for their new digs!?
xo,
