My Favorite French Import

Today I'm guest blogging for my friend, Kellie, of The Yuppie Files

While she's in Paris, she asked me to write about my favorite French import. Hmmmmm.....I wonder what that might be?

(Editor's note: I've been alerted that the photos aren't showing up on Kellie's blog, so here's the post.)

I was fortunate enough to spend a week in Paris last summer with my family. Yet, what made it even more special was celebrating my birthday while I was there. To commemorate the day, my sweet husband took me Hermes and bought me one of their enamel bracelets. Every time I wear it, I think of Paris and my special day.

So, my favorite French import is the icon of the orange box...Hermes! Whether you go to the original shop on Rue de Faubourg Saint-Honore of the smaller one on the Left Bank, there is no mistaking the quality of the workmanship or the aura of luxury!

Kellie…I hope you get to stop in and bring home a little souvenir. Do you have a favorite French import?

Anchors Away

I'm loving anchors....metal, hand carved or on my Vineyard Vines flip flops. And, the nautical outfits that they have inspired!

This week has barely begun, yet I'm already thinking about the upcoming holiday weekend. Will you be boating? Or at least near the water? I'll be shore side but I love watching the boats on the horizon. And, I'll be decked in red, white & blue!

Clementine Art

My darling Clementine Art! A few years ago, I stumbled upon Clementine Art,  chemical free art supplies created for children by a Boulder, CO art teacher.

After noticing that children do get a wee bit messy while creating works of art, she wondered if these products were as safe as possible for her little Picassos. So, she set out to research and create a line of products that are 100% natural.

I have adored these products for years. The modeling dough smells delicious, the quality is first rate and the packaging (I do love pretty packaging) makes them the perfect gift or party favor. Yet, recently, the packaging has been retooled to be even more "green" (no pun intended).

Need to tuck a little something into a camp care package? Are the grandchildren coming to visit? Taking a trip and need to have something to pass the travel time? Oh, Clementine!

Gorgeous Gardens

What draws us into an outdoor garden?

Is it just the plantings? The landscape design? Well, often when I look at a picture of a gorgeous garden, I am drawn to the ornaments. The perfect bench. A solitary birdbath. A lion sprewing wall fountain. A statue peeking out from behind the hydrangeas.

Well, for inspiration for your garden (real or imagined), look no further than Barbara Israel. Specializing in antique garden ornaments since 1985, Barbara has also developed a unique line of composition stone reproductions.

Don't we all dream of our own Secret Garden?

Say It's Your Birthday....'s my birthday, too!!!

I always thought I was the luckiest little girl because my birthday fell on the the Summer Solstice, the First Day of Summer, aka the "longest" day of the year. You know what? I still feel pretty lucky!

When is your birthday?! Do you celebrate out loud or low key?

ps: A very happy 29th birthday to Prince William. I'm 29, too! (again)

Simple Summer Appetizer

Finally home from Kansas and ready for the official start of Summer this week! So, I thought I would share with you a delicious, simple appetizer I adapted from a recent Bon Appetit magazine and made while we were at the ranch.
For the original recipe, go here.

I traded out Creme Fraiche and Goat Cheese for the Mexican Crema and Feta. I've made this recipe twice and forgot the squeeze of lime once. A small but key ingredient, we've determined!

What's your "go to" summer appetizer for outdoor dining?

Frozen Friday Fun

Hot where you are? Need to cool off? One of the easiest and cheeriest ways to do that is to make a batch of home made Popsicles.

I don't know an adult or child who can resist them!

Taking orders....what flavor would you like?
