Red Carpet Weekend

This weekend, all eyes will be on Natalie Portman...and what she will be wearing to the Oscars.

Here's how writer, Stephanie LaCava, dressed Natalie and the four other talented Best Actress nominees in vintage!
So who will take home the little gold statue? The Black Swan or a Dark Horse?

Blueprint for Design - Dallas

Visiting my home town of Dallas, TX in the springtime is one of the highlights of my year.

Besides visiting family and friends and getting my fill of Tex-Mex, I love to check out what's new and exciting on the design and fashion fronts.

So, I am thrilled to learn about Blue Print....an antiques and home furnishings shop that opened this past fall in one of my favorite areas of Big D.

Five, talented friends joined forces to restore this elegant, 1920s home and create a unique shopping experience.
From the looks of things...they have designed a blueprint for success!

Erika Jack - Bespoke Stationnaire

It was Love at first sight!

Searching for some holiday gift tags, I stumbled upon Erika Jack and her stunning "print meets calligraphy" graphic design style.
After graduating from the University of Nebraska, Erika put her degrees in Interior Design and Graphic Design to use by joining a Residential design firm, that also specialized in event planning.

Then, due to a job opportunity for her husband in Charlottesville, VA, Erika found herself in a new town looking for a job.

Her realtor, knowing her background, took her by the "shelter mag favorite" And George shop, where Erika met one of the owners, Jan Roden. Erika soon had a job working on the company's web page and designing print materials for the And George furniture line.

Every now and then, Erika would dabble in making invitations for co-owner, Christy Ford's parties. One day, Christy (whose daughter is named Tulip....not kidding!) suggested that Erika try her hand at a line of stationery....and the rest is beautifully written history.

You can find Erika's work exclusively at And George

From logos and gift tags to save the dates and wedding invitations...Erika can do it all. Look at Erika's work which was recently highlighted in Southern Living Weddings

Wanting something special that you don't see on the And George website? Contact Erika directly for custom work at erika@erikajack.com.
Here's what she did for me!

And, because I want to share the Love.....I'm giving away one set of Erika's "Love" gift tags

Tuesday Tulip

Look what's blooming for Spring fashion!

Shoshanna's hot "pretty" pink tulip dress. Available now at Neiman Marcus
One thing I have always admired about Shoshanna is that she designs clothing for women who have a few curves. And, she has stayed true to her design asthetic.

I'm seeing tulips everywhere lately....how about you?

No More Winter Blues

I'm trying to banish the winter blues! It has been a long, long winter for those of us in the Northeast (and the South for that matter), but Spring is in sight. Even Punxsutawney Phil said winter will soon be done. So, here's to embracing the beautiful hues of blue.

Like the beautiful blue surrounding this beach in Antigua, which I'll be visiting in a few short weeks.
Who knows....perhaps my new color will be a peachy bronze, resulting from the tan I hope to gain while I'm there.

Has winter gotten you blue or do you have a "Spring" in your step?

Friday Fashion - Sunday Styles

The Sunday Styles section of the The New York Times is my main reason for having the morning paper with my coffee on the weekends!

Who doesn't love to see the style compilations created by fashion fixture, Bill Cunningham?

Now, it's Bill who is on the other end of the lens, with the release of the documentary, Bill Cunningham New York.
Opening in New York and Los Angeles in March....you can take a sneak peek at the trailer below.
And since I'm among friends...I'll confess that whenever I head into the city, I think....what if Bill is out photographing? Would I make the cut? I never have....but a girl can dream!

Happy stylish weekend everyone!!!

Charlotte Moss Decorates

One more reason to look forward to Spring! Charlotte Moss, noted interior designer, lifestyle expert and author is releasing her 7th book, Charlotte Moss Decorates
Though she has book signings all over the country, she won't be in my neck of the woods....so I'll be ordering a signed copy from her website. And, one for a friend, of course.

Be sure and check out her C'est Inspire series on her website, too. Her photography beholds the eye of an artist.
Isn't she amazing?!
