Tree Lighting Tonight

Rockefeller Center

Tonight is the annual tree lighting ceremony at Rockefeller Center - one of the most recognizable trees in the world.
Last winter, we took our boys to see the tree and skate on the famed Rockefeller Center ice rink. I snapped this photo of Grant and our boys about 5 seconds before I lost my balance and ended up in the emergency room - just a sprain, but oh how it hurt. No more taking my camera on the ice!

This weekend, we'll get our tree and light it up, sans ice skates! Will you be decorating your tree this weekend, too?

I'm hoping my daughter, who lives in NYC will take the opportunity to be there tonight for the lighting. Since Michael Buble will be there, the chances have increased! My trees are up and decorating is complete!

I wish but with our move and not having a date don't know yet where I will be putting up a tree! Love seeing the tree at Rockefeller all lit up, its magic! Great pic of your sons and hubby....

I would love to be there for the tree lighting just once. I think Rockefeller Center is so cool. We took our kids ice skating there but I'm a klutz so if I put on skates I would have had more than a sprain. I am hoping to get a real tree this weekend too. xo

I have been to see the tree every year since I was old enough to walk. There is no better place than NYC at Christmas. xx

Yikes! Did you really sprain your your ankle? Sounds like something I would do...but that photo is amazing!

Zhush - yes, but it was my wrist. Hurt for weeks! I've learned my lesson though. Either skate or take photos...not both! :)

Days - Ah, yes, Mr, Buble. He's one of my faves. Wish I could get in to see him in person. Hope your daughter goes tonight!

What a wonderful picture of your husband and boys. My husband works right across the street from where the tree is and said it'll be packed tonight but fun. No trees yet but I've been wrapping gifts.

Such gorgeous site -- I love the Rockerfeller tree but it's been years since I've gotten to see it in person. We will be bringing our tree home this weekend, too! I can't wait. Hope you have a delightful time decorating yours. XO

PS -- I managed to pull a similar stunt taking a photo while on some ice -- except it was a side street and I wasn't wearing skates -- and I broke my elbow! Here's to keeping our balance this year!

This brings back such happy memories. We lived in NYC for a few years when Kristy was little and we LOVED going to the lighting of the tree and ice skating...so fun. Can't wait to light our own tree this weekend!!

There is no place in the world that I'd rather be than NYC at Christmas time...isn't it so special? Great photo capturing a wonderful opportunity. Ella and I have a mommy/daughter ice skating date on the calendar at Rockefeller center...I'm going to keep your "lesson" in mind...either skate (actually, more like wobble around!) or take photos. We are getting our tree on Friday and we can't wait to decorate over the weekend while listening to Elvis Presley's Christmas songs. Perhaps we need to do a holiday lunch date? XOXOX.

Oh my that happened to you?!? You poor thing! Glad it was just a strain. I plan on trying to walk on over there tomorrow to see the tree. I work on 49th and 3rd so it's just a few blocks away. Hope the back holds up :)

Have fun this weekend, sweetie! xoxo
