True Prep Bracelet Winners

Fantasty Fall Getaway-Twin Farms

Each fall, for many years now, I find myself longing to escape to Twin Farms, in Barnard, VT. I first heard of this magical place more than a decade ago, when I lived in Dallas. That was before the idea of living on the East Coast had even occurred to me. Funny how life takes you places you don't expect.

Now, I am a mere 5 hour drive from this all-inclusive, top rated small resort (as reported by both Robb Report and Conde Nast).

I know it's beautiful any time of year, but my yearning is to visit during the crimson and fiery colored "changing of the leaves". 

Our anniversary is November 21st....so if not this year, perhaps another.

Friday Flowers-Flowers for the Home

New York City's acclaimed floral designer, Grayson Handy, showcases arrangements that capture the essence of cultures around the world in his new book, Flowers for the Home~Inspirations from the World Over by Prudence Designs.

Masterfully creating arrangements that will make you swoon, he gives you the steps and the tools to recreate them in your own home. Purposefully, he focuses on using flowers that are widely available.

The stunning photography is captured by Ellen Silverman. This book makes a beautiful gift, but I caution you....it's so inspiring, you'll want one for yourself!

A Different Kind of Date Night

On a warm summer night, Grant and I went on a different kind of date.

This date required us to show up at a party where we didn't know a soul, in a place we'd never been and to get our hands a little messy. Our date night was attending the Grilled Pizza class at Sunday Suppers.

Delicious food and wine, engaging company, a new experience...all atop a Brooklyn rooftop, with the NYC skyline just behind. Going out for pizza sure has new meaning now!

Preppy is Back!

Biff and Buffy are back in the form of author, Lisa Birnbach and graphic artist, Chip Kidd. Together, they have created an update to the The Official Preppy Handbook, which came out while I was in the midst of my own preppy phase....let's just say "Bows Brown" was a nickname I can not believe I ever had. 

Bows - because I wore them LONG after I was in elementary school

Brown - that's my maiden name

Or...."shirts up to here, skirts down to there" which is how the Student Body President at my preppy, Southern alma mater described me to my now husband before our initial blind date. By that point, thankfully, I had finally discovered how much thinner/better I looked in higher heels and shorter skirts.

But, I digress. 

True Prep is a humorous look at how the old guard of tennis playing, pearls wearing, Gin and Tonic drinking crowd has embraced the internet, cell phones, reality tv and polar fleece. And, how truly diverse the preppy crowd is these days.
